When it comes to heavy-duty equipment, performance and build quality are non-negotiable—and the Convoy 3X21D is built like a tank. The machining on this host is exceptional, featuring thick-walled aluminum, aggressive thermal fins to shed heat under heavy load, and a sturdy handle that makes carrying and operating this light effortless. Inside, the electrical engineering is top-tier: a high-efficiency driver capable of delivering massive current to the power-hungry Luminus SBT90.2 LED without thermal throttling prematurely. Big brand searchlights charging $400 to $500 often skimp on driver efficiency or heatsinking, but Simon engineered this host from the ground up to let the emitter reach its full potential.  The light output on this configuration is nothing short of incredible. The single SBT90.2 LED at 5700K paired with the massive reflector produces a raw, intense beam that reaches vast distances with absolute clarity. It throws a laser-like central beam for long-range target identification while still maintaining enough high-lumen spill to illuminate an entire field or work area. Powering this rig with three Molicel P50B 21700 batteries is the ultimate setup—delivering ultra-high discharge current and sustained runtime with virtually no initial voltage dip. The beam quality is crisp, bright, and completely authoritative in dark environments.  At around $155 AUD including three top-spec Molicel batteries, the value for money here is unheard of. You are getting pure tier-one searchlight performance, industrial-grade reliability, and unmatched throwing power for a fraction of what major commercial brands charge for far inferior lights. Simon and the Convoy team have delivered another gold-standard tool that punches far above its weight. If you need raw distance and heavy-duty reliability, the 3X21D is the absolute benchmark. Highest recommendation!

I had long awaited the release of the F150R-spec emitter, so I purchased it immediately upon its launch. Although a dedicated gasket for the 7070-size emitter in the "3x21D" model is not currently available, I combined the existing "3x21D" gasket with a 7070-compatible gasket featuring an 11mm aperture, aligning the central axes to adjust the collimation (beam focusing). As a result, the peak intensity exceeded 900k(cd), confirming that the challenges associated with collimating the SBT90.2 had been successfully overcome. Furthermore, this intensity level of 900k(cd) was maintained even after the light had been on for 30 seconds. The beam profile is extremely tight, exhibiting characteristics similar to those of a searchlight.

The F150R 6500K features a round die, resulting in a very sharp beam. It clearly offers greater throw than the SBT-90.2. It is the amazing thrower. The beam effective range is likely over 1,800m, Great price and performance. The F150R has 16 bond wires.

Stunning and breathtaking. In the photo, the trees in the back are 400-500m away. Illuminated as if the light source was right there. On paper, the 3x21D has a range of almost 2km. In reality, it reaches 1km. About 6000lm. I walked around our city with this flashlight and everyone around me was stunned and no one could say a word. People came out of the windows to see what was happening. Not even a Bugatti Veyron would get that kind of attention. Only a tank. Even that would have to fire occasionally.

I am happy with this light, but now I know i would prefer the same light except with 2 of 21700 batteries in series (in a long handle), for less weight and better balance in the hand. It does throw noticeably longer and bigger than Convoy L21b, and than Wurkkos TD01.
