The M1 is my all time favorite 18650 based hand torch. I have 3 generations of this light (bought my first in the mid 90's, my second in the 2000's and this one recently) and find them to be an compromise excellent mix of spot and spill. They have a deep enough reflector to offer ligthing out to 500 meters with enough spill to make the light good for closer in area illumination. This newer version is also rated at 6A instead of 3A, so it is brighter...but that comes at the cost of faster cell drain. Setting the light to 50% allows the same battery life as the earlier generations with identical run times and brighteness if that is a concern. I usually find "blinking modes" to be something I avoid and on the 1st and 2nd generations of the M1 it was too easy to enable those. This 12 group tail allows for locking those out so that they stay off unless you want them. This is the best interation of this light so far,
